Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Medical Sciences and Dr RML Hospital are named after two stalwarts of free India and is situated in the Lutyens Delhi.
By virtue of its legacy and geographic location the institute has immense importance. Established in 1932, the hospital has been in service to the nation for more than nine decades. The hospital provides holistic Multi Specialty care and houses 24 broad specialties and 12 super specialties. The central government funded hospital has the moto of “कौशलमे, करुणा, निष्ठा, सेवा” and has been rendering quality services to the citizens of India with skill, knowledge and empathy.
The 1532 bedded institute has been on a rising trajectory for the last 2 decades. During this period, it has not only expanded its infrastructure but has also added new services and specialties. In addition, it has evolved into a premier Medical College of the country, imparting undergraduate MBBS, postgraduate MD/MS and super specialty DM/MCh training programs along with BSc Nursing and MPhil degrees. The panel of doctors the hospital has, are the best in the country and are regularly getting trained to keep pace with the rapidly evolving medical sciences and cutting-edge technology. The hospital is soon going to commission the newly constructed super-specialty block with another 660 plus beds, Linear accelerator, Pet CT and 19 operation theaters.
In addition to expansion, the hospital is committed to the quality of care it renders and safety of patients it cares for. In line with this the hospital is NABH certified and is on the path of getting full NABH Accreditation. The hospital has also received the 2nd prize amongst all group A hospitals in the country in Kaya Kalp Mission in 2024.
The hospital administration is making efforts to improve the services and making them user friendly. The new 23 counters OPD registration hall and 10 counters pharmacy are definite steps in that direction. The transgender services and state of art Heat Stroke unit are also first of its kind initiatives. Digitalization of patient care services has also improved health care delivery of the hospital.
