TEACHING ACTIVITIES

  • Physiological concepts are taught to students through:
  • Didactic lectures which are integrated both vertically as well as horizontally
  • Self Directed Learning sessions
  • Early Clinical Exposure
  • Small Group Discussions
  • Seminars
  • Visit to different Clinical labs of hospital, wards and OPDs
  • AETCOM sessions
  • Self directed learning sessions, Early clinical exposure with visits to various clinical departments help in understanding of concepts taught in Physiology
  • The Practical teaching of MBBS students also includes performance of Human experiments. Amphibian Experiments are taught through Amphibian Graphs & Charts. In addition, monthly student seminars, weekly Small group interactive teaching, writing of reflections is also part of training of students
  • Department has its own Practical manual and logbook edited and compiled by its faculty
  • OSPE and OSCE are conducted for objective standard assessment of practicals, clinical knowledge & skills
  • Innovative teaching methods practiced in the department include mind maps, one minute paper, flipped classroom
     

Department is also involved in teaching of following courses:

  • BSc (Hons.) Nursing
  • Pre Hospital Trauma Assistant
  • Medical Record Technician
     

RESEARCH ACTIVITIES

  • The department is also involved in research activities.


Current Project :

  • Correlation of cardiovascular autonomic dysfunction and inflammation in patients with cardiac syndrome X and coronary atherosclerosis
  • Research  on autonomic functions helps to better understand how physiological processes influence patient outcomes & implementing evidence - based practices to optimise patient care. Alongwith this, the  patient are advised   based on physiological principles  helping them understand their conditions, treatment options & self management strategies for improved health outcomes
